It is interesting that in the period from 1990 to 2000 there appeared a great number of films with reality as their subject: Matrix, Existence, Thirteenth Floor... The Truman Show. Is life real in the illusion that was built for you? American science fiction writer Robert Sheckley has thought-provoking stories that have been honed to a diamond sharpness. The Truman Show is a thought-movie. Reduced to near-perfection. "You are real. And that's why you're so valuable." The protagonist is real. The world around him is illusory. A real man (Truman sounds like True man, which means True man) doesn't need illusion. He needs real life, even if there are "just as many lies as in the world that was created for him". Truman is played by Jim Carrey, who has shown tremendous dramatic talent in this movie. He finely played the ordinary clerk who for the time being was happy with his job, loved his wife, drank beer with his best friend... Gogol has a tragedy of the little man, and here the little man turns out to be not so little as it was supposed by Show's creator - Christophe (played brilliantly by Ed Harris). Christophe loves Jim Carrey's character - because he "Remembers His First Step. First day of school." But Truman walks to his freedom despite the director's will, overcoming all the obstacles put in his way.
Worth watching for ALL. The film is small, but extremely effective.
What do you think was Christophe's attitude towards Truman? Here is the most complete version. no one is forgotten. nothing is forgotten.
